5 Ways to Beat the Heat on a Summer Kayak Tour
- Go in the morning. Mornings are often cooler in the summer here in Cocoa Beach, however, we do offer afternoon Kayak Tours.
- Wear cooler clothing. We suggest wearing a hat, polarized sunglasses, short pants, and short sleeved shirt to keep cool while you kayak.
- Drink plenty of water. We provide water to our guest, however, you may want to bring your own larger, insulated water bottle on your kayak tour.
- Bring a towel.
- Bring a hat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need any Kayaking Experience to go on a Tour ?
None! You do not even need to know how to swim! A large percentage of Adventure Kayak’s guests have had no prior experience in kayaking, thus, at your designated launch site, one of our trained interpretive kayak guides will give you a great introduction to kayaking, provide you with all of the necessary kayaking equipment and give you an informative kayak/safety lesson. Regardless of your age or skill level, you will find that our expeditions are safe and rewarding.
What Do I need to Bring on My Kayak Tour?
Recommended items to bring on your kayak tour include:
- hat
- sunglasses
- sunscreen
- binoculars if you have them
- a camera if you wish
- wear proper attire for weather conditions
- shoes you wouldn’t mind getting wet such as an old pair of tennis shoes or flip-flops. We do supply a dry bag. Most importantly…bring a great attitude!
Are There Any Requirements to Take a Tour?
Adventure Kayak of Cocoa Beach invites the whole family to join our kayaking adventures. The minimum age to participate in an Adventure Kayak Guided Nature Tour is 4 (four) years old. Those concerned with being “too old” can contact us to discuss their physical abilities.
Are There Any Physical Limitations?
Anyone in average physical condition may join an Adventure Kayak trip. The only prerequisite we require is a healthy spirit of curiosity and adventure. Our kayak tours are not considered to be strenuous or physically demanding, and we do not require a high level of fitness, however, if you have any physical impairments that require special services, or have concerns about any special needs you or your group may have, please call us to discuss them at 321-480-8632.
Are Your Kayaks Stable?
Adventure Kayak of Cocoa Beach offers both single and double quality kayaks for you to use, specifically designed for comfort and safety. These kayaks are built to keep you dry! From very narrow kayaks for the more experienced kayaker to very wide ones for beginners, the kayaks we use are all extremely stable, yet swift and easy to maneuver the waterways of Cocoa Beach and the Indian River Lagoon.
Should I Tip My Tour Guide?
Although not required, a guide gratuity at the end of your trip is a nice gesture of appreciation for outstanding service, fun times and smiling children. Guiding is a hospitality industry comparable to that of a server at a restaurant, except that our guides spend more time with you, teach you more, keep you safe and make your kayak trip unforgettable.
How Far in Advance Should I Make My Reservation?
Reservations should be made as soon as you are certain of the type of tour and dates you are interested in. We recommend selecting a day early in your vacation. However, you can still call us after 7 a.m. on the day you’d like to go kayaking to see if there are any openings to join us on the same day kayak trip. The earlier you call, the better! Reservations are accepted up to 12 months in advance.
- Avoid booking your kayak tour on the last day of your vacation as it may rain.
- Avoid booking your kayak tour for the afternoon in summer months as it is likely to rain.
