Before you kayak in Cocoa Beach
Before embarking on your awesome kayaking expedition with Adventure Kayak of Cocoa Beach, please take a moment to view some of our most frequently asked questions, as well as our policies and procedures...
Do I need any kayaking experience to go on an Adventure Kayak tour in Cocoa Beach?
None! You do not even need to know how to swim! A large percentage of Adventure Kayak's guests have had no prior experience in kayaking, thus, at your designated launch site, one of our trained interpretive kayak guides will give you a great introduction to kayaking, provide you with all of the necessary kayaking equipment and give you an informative kayak/safety lesson. Regardless of your age or skill level you will find that our expeditions are safe and rewarding.
What do I need to bring on my Adventure Kayak trip?
Recommended items to bring on your kayak tour include: a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, binoculars if you have them, a camera if you wish, and make sure to wear proper attire for weather conditions including shoes you wouldn't mind getting wet such as an old pair of tennis shoes or flip-flops. We do supply a dry bag. Most importantly...bring a great attitide!
Are there any age requirements for taking a kayak tour with you?
Adventure Kayak of Cocoa Beach invites the whole family to join our kayaking adventures. The minimum age to participate in an Adventure Kayak Guided Nature Tour is four years old. Those concerned with being "too old" can contact us to discuss their physical abilities.
Are there any physical limitations?
Anyone in average physical condition may join an Adventure Kayak trip. The only prerequisite we require is a healthy spirit of curiosity and adventure. Our tours are not considered to be strenuous or physically demanding, and we do not require a high level of fitness, however, if you have any physical impairments that require special services, or have concerns about any special needs you or your group may have, please call us to discuss them.
How stable are your kayaks?
Adventure Kayak of Cocoa Beach offers both single and double quality kayaks for you to use, specifically designed for comfort and safety. From very narrow kayaks for the more experienced kayaker to very wide ones for beginners, the kayaks we use are all extremely stable, yet swift and easy to maneuver.
Should I "tip" my kayak tour guide?
Although not required, a guide gratuity at the end of your trip is a nice gesture of appreciation for outstanding service, fun times and smiling children. Guiding is a hospitality industry comparable to that of a server at a restaurant, except that our guides spend more time with you, teach you more, keep you safe and make your kayak trip unforgettable.
How far in advance do I need to make a reservation for an Adventure kayak tour?
Reservations should be made as soon as you are certain of the type of tour and dates you are interested in. We recommend selecting a day early in your vacation!! However, you can still call us after 7 a.m. on the day you'd like to go kayaking to see if there are any openings to join us on a same day kayak trip! Reservations are accepted up to 12 months in advance.
Do you book nature tours and provide discounts for large groups?
Yes we do! If you're planning a corporate retreat, large family gathering or special event, consider taking your party on a fun, exiciting Adventure Kayak Group Nature Tour! For more information and discount pricing, please call us at (321) 480-8632.
